Fast and heavily armed, the Corsair dominated Japanese aircraft in the latter half of WWII. Following the land-based F4U-1 and F4U-1A variants used by the U.S. Marine Corps, the F4U-1D introduced in April 1944 was the first official carrier-capable version, featuring a raised pilot seat, bubble canopy, and broader propeller blades. Armed with six 12.7mm machine guns, it also carried two inner wing pylons and could be equipped with eight rockets on the outer wings, serving as a fighter-bomber in attacks on the Japanese home islands starting February 1945. The model accurately reproduces the F4U-1D’s distinctive features, with dimensions of 205mm in length and 236mm wingspan (extended), and includes options for folded or extended wings, two drop tanks, eight rockets, and a ‘Moto-Tug’ with two tow bar types (Moto-Tug dimensions: 62mm length, 29mm width). Pilot and driver figures, along with three aircraft marking options, are also included.
