This Tamiya kit skillfully replicates the Subaru BRZ in a 1/10 scale model. Introduced in April 2021, the ZD8 is a nimble, rear-wheel-drive sports car with a wide stance, low center of gravity, and aerodynamic features inspired by motorsports. The full scale car is propelled by a potent 2.4-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder DOHC boxer engine, generating 235 horsepower.

Clear Body

The Clear untrimmed 2021 BRZ body features a sleek and sporty design, embodying the essence of a rear-wheel-drive sports car. With its low-slung profile, the BRZ ZD8 showcases a dynamic and aerodynamic exterior. The body design emphasizes a broad stance, contributing to stability and handling performance. Performance Chassis

The TT-02 chassis, with its adaptable and balanced shaft-driven 4WD system, ensures excellent stability through a longitudinal layout featuring the battery on the left and the motor on the right. Its design incorporates identical left and right suspension arms and uprights for straightforward assembly, along with easily maintainable gearboxes. The chassis offers versatility with two wheelbases, two ground clearance settings, two tread setups, and a selection of ten gear ratios. Not only functional, it boasts aesthetic appeal with brake disc-shaped wheel hubs, stylish front bumper supports, gun metal color 10-spoke wheels, and sleek slick tires, delivering a sporty appearance.

Included Electronics

This chassis Kit includes both a torque tuned brushed motor and Hobbywing 1060 ESC. these components combine to deliver a performance enhanced on-road racing experience. The compact ESC boasts extreme performance, complemented by a built-in capacitor module for efficient power delivery. With exceptional current endurance capability, easily configurable parameters using ESC jumpers, and automatic throttle range calibration for user-friendly setup, the Quicrun 1060 stands out. Its impressive built-in BEC output capacity, built-in capacitor and IP-67 waterproof rating further elevate its reliability, making it a top-tier choice for enthusiasts seeking optimal performance in their RC adventures. The RS-540 Torque-Tuned motor offers higher top speeds and increased acceleration.

Connector Information

When upgrading to a high current LiPo battery, it is recommended to also upgrade your battery connector. We recommend using an XT60 or T-Style connector for this application. Please check out the video below to learn how to solder on a T-Style connector.

However, the finished product isn’t great. You can spend a lot more money to upgrade to make it a reasonably good car, but you can buy something much better for less by the time you are done. The steering is terrible, and it’s pretty fragile stock. Take your time with the body though and they are beautiful. This should be considered a drivable model more than a true RC. My friend helped me build this car. I was able to finish the building process for 2 days. But take note, I am a beginner. Others can build this for 3 hours. I find this a very good value for the money. It looks good, it is durable and a lot better than any RTR. If this is your first car, take note that you will still need to buy the following: Battery, charger, servo, transmitter and receiver. The building process is so much fulfilling, especially after you finish painting the body and the decals. The only thing I didn’t like is the car has no wing sobif you are intending to run this in a race track, this will spin on sharp turns. If you are planning to use this just for bashing, you will enjoy this. I recommend to use 2s lipo battery. It will give you more torque and more fun to drive. Great little kit with plenty of hop up parts available in OEM and aftermarket. One thing that should be in the kit is the paperwork to decal placement for the different bodies. If you offer the BRZ, Subaru, or any other body, at least provide the decal placement diagram also. I’ve looked on-line and found it, thought I saved it, but lost it now. Many are self explanatory but for beginners, it would be nice. Nope, this isn’t my first rodeo, and won’t be my last. The TTO2 platform is great street fun. View all reviews
